GourdMaster Metallic Inks

Different from Ink Dyes, Metallic Inks are completely opaque and used more for accents with your gourd designs, Simply shake or stir with a craft stick to mix well and apply using a small paint brush. Water clean up.  Non-toxic. GourdMaster Gourd Varnish

Recommended by professional gourd artists, this top-selling high-quality Gourd Varnish is excellent for sealing the inside and outside of your gourd and protecting your art for years to come. It is a non-yellowing, extremely durable varnish that will not chip or peel. Can be mixed with gourd Ink Dyes and used as a versatile, new  coloring agent! Non toxic, water based easy clean up. Fast drying with excellent coverage. Low gloss finish. For higher gloss, simply apply additional coats. Best applied using a make-up sponge. Use very small amount on your sponge because a little goes a long way. Sponge on, do not drag.

GourdMaster Gourd Wax

This high-performance, art-grade wax will bring your dull, dry gourd shell back to life! Simply apply with a soft rag or felt and work into the gourd surface for a deep, illustrious finish. Gourd Ink Dyes dragging instead of gliding when you apply them? Most likely your gourd shell is too dry. Simply apply a coat of gourd wax first, or mix 10 drops ink Dye with a teaspoon of wax for a beautiful “shoe polish”” product that colors, seals and protects all in one step! (Use your heat tool to make the wax soak in more deeply) Can also be mixed with the GourdMaster line of pigment powders for a stunning metallic paste! Low odor, non-toxic.

GourdMaster™ Gourd Paint

Why buy bottles of low-quality paint that can chip and peel off when you can create your own, beautiful custom color acrylic paints using long-lasting , White Gourd Paint and GourdMaster™ Ink Dyes! You adjust the color shade you want by controlling the number of drops of Ink Dye! The black paint makes a perfect covering for the inside of the gourd, or for great opaque coverage anywhere on the gourd surface.

GourdMaster™ Gel Glaze

A durable, long lasting, clear finish in and of itself, Gel Glaze can be used as an alternative to Gourd Varnish or mixed with other GourdMaster™ products to create whole new looks!

Create a beautiful, iridescent sheen over your Ink Dye color by mixing 1/8 tsp Pigment Powder (try Super Bronze with 1 tsp Gel Glaze and sponge on using a cosmetic (make-up) sponge. This “Metallic Shimmer” product works best when applied over the top of the Ink Dye (or try mixing your Ink Dye in with it, then sponging on!)

Want to color the rim of your gourd or the white, exposed surface you get when carving? If you’ve ever tried applying Ink Dye to this white, porous surface you know the color soaks in and turns very dark. Now you can match the color of this porous surface to the Ink Dye color on your gourd shell by mixing Gel Glaze with Ink Dye then sponging or painting it on! Colors and seals in one easy step! Non-Toxic, water clean-up.

GourdMaster™ Wood Texture and Filler

Now there’s a quick and easy way to fix cracks, holes and other “imperfections” in your gourd shell!

Also works as a fabulous medium to create texture on your gourd! We recommend mixing it with equal parts Gourd Varnish for more durability when creating texture. Match your Ink Dye color to your wood filler with the following formula:  Mix equal parts Wood Filler and Gourd Varnish to fill crack in shell, allow to dry, then sand; apply a coat of varnish over entire gourd and let dry. Apply Ink Dye on top.

Micro Brushes

Need to get color into a small design? You need Microbrushes! This is a must have tool for any artist doing detail work! Micro-brushes are perfect for precise application of Ink Dyes, metallic inks, paints and more. Liquid is held in suspension between the fibers crating a NON-Dripping Sphere which retains the material until it is applied. They can be cleaned with a damp cloth and re-used again.

Ink Dye Applicator Cube

Avoid wasting your Ink Dye on rags, which only soak up your product and dry out. With the Ink Dye Applicator Cube, you can apply as much Ink Dye as needed, then seal and store it for later use! The Ink Dye Applicator Cube is perfect for when you want to apply one color to a larger area or even your entire gourd surface. Designed specifically to be used with the Ink Dyes, it allows you to apply your color smoothly with no dripping or running. Its fine, soft surface will not scratch or leave lines on your gourd.

Heat Activated Designer Glue (and Glue Pad Refill)

Now you can apply your metal leaf in seconds instead of waiting for long drying time!  Not only that, GourdMaster™ Heat Activated Designer Glue creates a bond so strong, you can scratch it with your fingernail and your metal leaf remains intact! Use Glue to adhere both dry GourdMaster™ Pigment Powders and metal leafing. See step by step instructions below:

Step 1:  Apply a small amount of liquid glue using a paint brush

Step 2:  Heat activate the glue using a heat tool for approx 30 seconds or until glue has lost its shine and turned matte. (You cannot over heat the glue, so more  time is better than less)

Step 3: Firmly press your metal leaf against the glue. (You can touch it with your fingers without fear of tarnishing as long as you are not using real metal leafing, such as 24k gold).

Step 4: Use a sponge brush to remove excess. If you went outside your lines, use a nail file or sanding stick to remove excess, and or your woodburning tool to clean your lines.
 

Heat Activated Designer Glue Pad

Now you can put your collection of rubber stamps to another great use! (You will find a Rubber Stamp supplier on my Links page)  Use the quick and easy Heat Activated Designer Glue in a stamp pad and create beautiful images on your gourds in seconds!

Simply stamp into the pad, stamp your gourd (you may need a bit of practice to rock your stamp around the curve of the gourd and heat the image with your heat tool until it turns from glossy to matte (approx 30 seconds) use a dry, fluffy brush and apply a small amount of dry Pigment Powder. Wipe off excess with a tissue. Seal and protect with Gourd Varnish. The glue only activates when heated so your stamps clean off easily using a damp cloth! GluePad comes pre-filled with Heat Activated Glue, but be sure to order the refill bottle so you can keep it filled. Try Black Heat Activated Glue when applying Pigment Powders to create a dark background so you’re Pigment colors show up stronger and more vibrant!

Just like Gourd Wax, Formula 49 can be applied as a base coat to condition the gourd shell so that Ink Dyes go on with smooth, even color and blend easily. Formula 49 can also be used for diluting or lightening colors, and to blend Ink Dye colors together so that you get a smooth transition from one color to the next even with no base coat underneath and more! And that's not all! Formula 49 will also completely remove the ink dye or even in some cases, old leather dye. Use a piece of felt with a couple of drops of Formula 49 and wipe over any color you want removed or lightened!

Formula 49 mixes beautifully with GourdMaster™ Pigment Powders to create a transparent shimmer with just a flash of color, great for things like painting dragonfly or fairy wings.

Formula 49 is applied just like Ink Dye using a piece of felt or a Microbrush. To avoid long dry times, blot the excess off using a tissue just like you would if using a color Ink Dye.
